What's New with Shamel Studio?

One of our most requested features! You can now download your projects and work on your schedules without an internet connection. When you're back online, your changes automatically sync.

We've expanded our automated budgeting support to include Oregon, making it easier to build budgets for productions filming in the state.

Create different versions of your budget and compare them side by side. Explore different scenarios, locations, assumptions, and more, then quickly see how each version impacts your budget.

Review your budget in a new Continuous View, with all accounts expanded into one seamless, report-style view directly within Shamel Studio.

Customize how you like to work in Shamel Studio and save those preferences as your Scheduling Defaults. Your preferred Stripboard and Scene Breakdown settings will automatically carry over when you create new projects.

We've made our script processing even better, with improvements across the breakdown process to deliver more accurate and consistent results when starting a new schedule.

You can now export specific shooting days for both Stripboard and Shooting Schedule reports. Export only the days you need instead of the entire schedule.

We've also added more ways to sort your projects, including by date created, date updated, and alphabetical order.

Filming in two states? No problem. You can now add a Secondary Location, and Shamel will automatically populate the applicable fringes and tax incentives for the additional state.

You can now suppress specific tags to better fit your production needs and explore different budgeting scenarios.

The new 2026–2027 DGA agreement rates are now updated and available in Shamel Studio.

Choose exactly which episodes appear in your Day Out of Days report, whether you want to view a single episode, multiple episodes, or the entire show.

We've redesigned the Elements Table for a cleaner experience and improved performance, especially when working with larger schedules.

The conversation focused on innovative technology in production, where we shared Shamel Studio's vision and how we're thinking about AI in real production workflows. For multi-script schedules, you can now view your Day Out of Days by episode or display multiple episodes at once, making episodic scheduling easier to manage.

Shamel Scheduling now supports 2nd Unit scheduling. Assign scenes to 2nd Unit and easily filter them in reports when needed.

Download a complete list of elements by category, available in PDF or Excel, and sort them using different criteria for easier tracking.

Additional customization options now available, including strip colors for INT/EXT, custom columns, and sorting options for non-Cast DOOD (shooting order, script order, alphabetical).

We've added more flexibility to Call Sheets, including a Phone column in the crew table and improved interactive weather updates.

Working with a new draft just got easier. Upload a revised script and Shamel detects the changes between versions, updating only the scenes that changed so you don't have to redo your breakdown. New scenes are added, removed scenes are cleared, and your existing work stays intact.

The Reports tab has been redesigned with previews and expanded options. You can now generate and export all reports from one place with better visibility and control.

We've added more control over elements: Lock Cast IDs to prevent accidental changes, and sort categories by First Occurrence to match script order.

Budgeting now supports Nebraska, including fringes and tax incentive information.

Filming somewhere not on our list? You can now select "Other" and customize fringes and incentives based on your production needs.

You can now cut and paste rows in the Topsheet and Accounts, making budget adjustments faster.

Try our new Suggestions feature to quickly identify and merge similar Cast and Set entries. Shamel now suggests elements that may be duplicates or closely related, helping you keep your reports clean, organized, and accurate.

You can now move an element from one type or category to another with a single click. Easily reassign items without deleting and recreating them.

You can now filter exported budget reports by tags. This is especially useful when preparing reports for film commissions or managing productions across multiple states or countries.

We've expanded budgeting support to include Florida, Washington, and Massachusetts, complete with local incentives and relevant rates.

You can now right-click in Budget Details to apply fringes or tags instantly, speeding up your workflow.

We’ve launched Production Reports, a major new release designed to work seamlessly with Call Sheets. Information now flows smoothly from Call Sheets into Production Reports, reducing manual entry, improving accuracy, and making it easier to track what actually happened on the day. From cast and background counts to schedule details, Production Reports help close the loop between planning and execution, all in one place.

You can now auto-renumber scenes with a single click as you make changes, keeping everything in sync without manual cleanup.

Tags now support custom colors, and you can filter your reports using tags for quicker, clearer budgeting insights.

You can now view background actor counts per scene, giving you more control over how your BG is tracked and displayed.

You can now link elements beginning from any point in the script, including Locations. This helps you track changes that start mid-story. For example, if a character gets a scar halfway through the script or starts wearing a specific wardrobe piece later on, you can link that element from that scene onward and keep everything accurate.

We've added a chat feature to our website for faster, easier support. Reach out anytime if you have questions or need help with your schedules or budgets.

You can now reorder columns on your stripboard to match your preferred layout and workflow.

You can now share your schedule publicly, let your team view your Stripboard, Calendar, or DOOD without requiring a Shamel Studio account or sign-up. Check it out under the Reports tab.

Introducing Red Flags, you can now mark cast or other elements as unavailable to help avoid scheduling them on conflicting days.

We've officially launched the Shamel Blog, featuring articles on film production tools, scheduling tips, and behind-the-scenes insights from the Shamel team.

Budgets are now fully automated, including Labor and Equipment costs. Even tags for Above and Below the Line are automated, saving you time and cutting down on manual edits.
